The CW’s latest stars Olivia Liang as a Shaolin-trained woman who returns to San Francisco after three years in China only to discover a triad menacing her family.

As near-trends go, The CW’s devious recent pattern of using macho “dad” brands as a Trojan horse for heartwarming family dramas is one I’m partial to. Like Walker, the network’s Kung Fu has its own share of problems. But the inevitability that fans of the ’70s show of the same title checking out this semi-remake will freak out and then tune out is absolutely a feature and not a bug.

While Kung Fu and Walker have a lot in common — namely, they both do some things well, just not the things most associated with their respective brands — Kung Fu has an added asset of timeliness. In a moment of rising hate crimes against Asian Americans, this is a show with a breadth of representation that feels astonishing on broadcast television. Yes, that fact should embarrass the industry to no end. But Kung Fu definitely derives value from the ways it looks and feels different from any other show on TV, amid all the ways it still feels very similar.

PETA slams Rebel Wilson’s ‘Pooch Perfect,’ calls it ‘dangerous’ for dogs

Animal-rights group PETA has denounced ABC’s new dog-grooming competition, “Pooch Perfect,” which pits 10 teams of groomers against each other to create over-the-top looks for a $100,000 cash prize.

“Dogs trust us to keep them safe, but shows like ‘Pooch Perfect’ can encourage people to treat them as if they were things to decorate, like a ceramic pot, giving them dangerous at-home dye jobs, which not only carry the risk of an allergic reaction or fatal toxic poisoning but also stress them out,” the organization said in a statement to The Post. “The dogs used on this show aren’t things but beings, and they deserve to curl up at home with a loving guardian — instead of having to put up with being leashed to a countertop and painted and prodded by strangers for hours on end.”

Sharon Osbourne Will Reportedly Be Paid Millions to Leave The Talk

Late last week, CBS announced that its investigation into allegations of racism and bullying by Sharon Osbourne had culminated with her leaving The Talk. Attributing that decision to Osbourne herself, the company said its internal review had “concluded” that her behavior “did not align with our values for a respectful workplace.” It did not mention, however, that Osbourne would potentially receive several million dollars upon her exit. Whoops!

That detail comes via a “Page Six” source, who claims that “Sharon is walking away with a $5 to $10 million minimum payout.” Not only that, the source noted, but she “was able to spin that it was her decision” not to stay. A separate source reportedly confirmed that she would receive a large sum, adding: “Sharon will talk when she is ready. She still wants to give her side of the story. She has been on that show for 11 years and knows all the secrets.”
